SPURCYCLE Bell - The small one with the loud sound (Black DLC-Finish)
The idea for the bell project came to the folks at Spurcycle in California after spending several weekends riding their bikes on the crowded Golden Gate Bridge.
They wanted to develop a bell that could be heard from afar so that pedestrians, for example, did not have to jump aside at the last moment.
The bell should have a clean, modern design and be able to be attached to all types of handlebars, regardless of the diameter.
It should work extremely effectively in the hectic, urban environment and also look "sexy" on every bike. Only durable, high-quality materials should be used. In short, their goal was to reinvent the bicycle bell and thus create the best bicycle bell available on the market.
So they started a campaign on Kickstarter.com to raise the $20,000 needed for implementation and production.
In the end, nearly 6,000 supporters raised over $300,000 to make the project a reality.
The result is a bicycle bell that exactly meets the developers' ideas listed above: a bell with high-quality components, a loud, long-lasting sound and a simple design.
The Spurcycle Bell is often advertised as a "stainless steel bell" in this country. This is not correct. The actual bell dome is made of a unique nickel-brass alloy. The manufacturers have very deliberately chosen nickel brass because of its superior volume and sound resonance. Other components, such as the fastening straps, are made of stainless steel. The hammer is made of aluminium. You won't find any plastic parts here.
The bell is available with two different finishes. Once with a raw, hand-brushed surface or with black DLC ("Diamond like carbon") coating. With the two enclosed stainless steel fastening straps of different lengths, the SPURCYCLE Bell can be attached to handlebars or other tubular objects with a diameter of 22.2 - 31.8 mm.
On the back of the packaging you will find help with the fastening. All you need is a 2.5 mm hexagon key. Here is also a video of the installation.
